Design Thinking Septemberfest in Postdam – there is no chance we could miss that. We got an enormous dose of inspiration and a surprising number of eaten currywursts.

Design thinking forms the basis of the method we use at Direct People for designing and building innovations. For this reason, in September we set out to the three-day Design Thinking festival, to draw new inspiration and also find a way to improve our working procedures further. The festival was held by the German d.school at the Hasso Plattner Institute in Potsdam, the only official Design Thinking educational institution in Europe.

And we certainly don’t regret going. The programme was packed full with several parallel streams, from lectures and workshops to labs. And because we believe there’s no substitute for personal experience, we focused mainly on the workshops, where we had the opportunity to try out all the methods and approaches for ourselves. We also heard a number of interesting case studies and naturally networked as if our lives depended on it. We spent the last day “on safari” getting to know interesting Berlin start-ups and design thinking agencies.

We learned a whole range of interesting things, and the 3 + 1 most interesting – i.e. beyond the fact that Currywurst, served for breakfast, lunch and dinner☺, is the basis of German cuisine – we’ve put into a report for you.
